Yesterday WordPress celebrated their fifth birthday.
It took me a while to crossover from Movable Type to WordPress, but when i did, it didn’t take make long to appreciate it.
The reason why it took me years to try out WP after using Big Blog Tool first and MT later is simple. I don’t believe in something for nothing. If you haven’t payed for something, what do you do when you can’t get to it to work? I am no genius with PHP or MYSQL and i have no intention to become one. So i always payed for blogging services first and nagged the support department to death later. In the end it did me little good. MT 4 had serious problems when installed on the server of my webhost and after much trying, testing and writing in a desperate attempt to overcome the problem, i finally gave up. I left price tagged paradise and entered the free badlands of open source software. And i never want to go back.
I still don’t understand how it is possible that something that is free is better in every aspect than any of the commercial blogging software i have encountered so far. But i can be grateful and i am. Happy belated birthday WordPress!
