The city council of Amsterdam is about to start to improve their oldest neighbourhoods in a major way. Especially the red light district will change drastically. That means a lot less brothels, zero tolerance for pimping, the youngest legal age for a prostitute will be 21 instead of 18 and finally the city is starting to fight forced prostitution in a serious way.
It’s about freaking time.
Instead of that crap, people will get the chance to appreciate that part of the city for its historical value and that history includes a whole lot more than just whore whopping. It will take a lot of time and a whole lot of tax money, but it is worth it. Who knows, maybe in ten years i will be able to walk around there with some friends from abroad and be proud instead of ashamed.
