Group of Death

The Netherlands won’t have it easy in their group matches at the Euro 2008 tournament in Switzerland and Austria. Apart from the finalists of the last World Cup -France and champions Italy-, the orange team will have to face Romania. The Netherlands played against Romania during the qualifying stages. In The Netherlands it ended with a 0-0 draw. In Romania the Dutch lost by 1-0.

In the last world cup The Netherlands was also in the group that was labeled to be the “Group of Death” (Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Serbia and Argentina) and survived it none the less. But apart from Argentina i don’t think that that group was quite the same caliber as the group The Netherlands is facing now. If we do get through, we have a very good chance of winning the cup.

But i think Germany has the best chances.

“Football is a simple game. You play for 120 minutes, and then the Germans win on penalties.”

Gary Lineker said that. And often it is true. I’m looking forward to this tournament. Especially since there is little chance that my team will disappoint me. If they beat Romania and maybe play a draw against France or Italy, i will be happy.
