5 years of war on terror: how are we doing?

“If I was Osama Bin Laden sitting in my cave, I would think I was winning,”

This is a good article about how and why the current war against terror doesn’t work.

It ends on a positive note:

“It will get worse before it gets better but I expect western policy to win eventually because it offers a superior, political, moral and economic model.”

Superior moral model? Alsmost drowning people to force them to give information, might have been suitable for the gestapo or the secret police of Chile, but in the civilized free world i grew up in, it was called torture.

When we stoop as low as torture, we no longer have that “superior, moral and economic model” that we want to protect so badly. We have entered the ranks of the Osama’s and the Saddam’s. No matter who will be waving the flag at the end of the battle. It will be their ideology that has won.
