Spinning the black circle

While rummaging around through some redundant stuff that i should have thrown away ages ago, i stumbled on my good old turntable. I think haven’t touched the poor thing for at least four years. It is a Dual CS 503-1. Dual were once one of the leading companies when it came to turntables. They tried to stay on with the times, by producing cd players later on, but to no avail. Dual ceased to exist in 2001.

Poor Dual. I have put my turntable back where it belongs, and that is beside my Rotel amp. It was good to play some vinyl again, although it sucks that i have abused my records to a level that some of them are unplayable anymore. I will never get a good copy of Claw Boys Claw’s “With Love From The Boys” again and as far as i know they never made a cd version of that classic.

Is it too late to repent? I guess it is.

For more info about Dual go to this site. My personal favourites are the ones from the 1200 series. I think my dad had a 1215. Ah, playing Sweet Smoke on a Dual 1215… Awesome!

Back to modern times. I hope to get this little baby by the end of the week. Apart from the silly pitch feature, this is a no thrills cd player, that happens to play cd’s really well. I find that rather important. You never can be too careful when picking audio components. The slightest error and the enjoyment of listening to your Dead Kennedys collection is totally ruined.

It does me heart good to hear you’ve unearthed the table.

What the hell would anyone need a pitch control on a cd player for??
